lz77-v3 - a portable-C LZSS compressor (one .c file, encoder = decoder).
Latest: lzss_v3.20_lenrc.c (format v25).
It beats the classic lz77.c and lzss.c by a good margin, compresses better than zlib/gzip and is now close to xz -e, in a small footprint (full encoder ~11 MB RAM, 512 KB window).
Levels -1..-9; -9 adds range coding, dual-model slots, deep search and BCJ RDO.
Deterministic and dependency-free. New versions land here whenever a real idea improves compression.
