BESCHREIBUNG:
Tomb (by dyne.org) is a command-line / minimal GUI tool (but primarily CLI) for managing encrypted “volumes” or “folders” called tombs. It uses Linux’s dm-crypt / LUKS to provide strong encryption. You can create (“dig” or “forge”), open, lock, close, slam, and manage tombs. It is aimed at securely storing secrets, files, etc., while giving an easy interface to lock/unlock them. It has been maintained for many years and is trusted by users for secure encrypted containers.
Eigenschaften
- Create encrypted containers (“tombs”) of arbitrary size, protected by LUKS/dm-crypt keys
- Lock and unlock tombs via key files, managing open/close state
- “Slam” command to forcibly close tomb even if processes keep open file handles inside it
- Minimalist design, readable code, stable over years with community contributions
- Support for man pages, docs, translation/localization etc.
- Installation via stable, signed releases; community-based maintenance
