DESCRIPTION:
SoundCraft is an open-source digital audio workstation written from scratch in Rust as a clean-room reimplementation of familiar Pro Tools workflows. It provides dedicated Edit and Mix environments for multitrack recording, arrangement, processing, and mixing. The mixer supports inserts, sends, buses, auxiliary tracks, master faders, VCAs, routing folders, meters, and automation. MIDI tools include instrument tracks, piano-roll editing, velocity control, quantization, transposition, and Standard MIDI File import and export. Every major action is exposed through commands that can also be driven through a CLI, JSON control channel, or MCP server. Native builds target macOS, Windows, Linux, and FreeBSD, while a WebAssembly edition runs in browsers. The project is still pre-alpha but already covers a substantial portion of traditional DAW workflows.
