DESCRIPTION:

Tria O.S. detects hard & soft specs of the PC where you run it, you can load this info or specify it manually to let the program inform you what would be the best operating system for a specific PC, with the specified hardware, and then see the difference by adding RAM, a SSD hard drive, changing the graphics card ... etc.


REQUIREMENTS:

For Linux, you need GAMBAS 3.3 or later, so you will have to install the gambas3 package before installing.

90's EDITION needs 160 MB (192 MB on a virtual machine) of RAM and works with Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0.

BRONTOSAURUS EDITION needs DirectX 9.0c and .Net Framework 2.0 and runs on Windows 98, Windows 98 SE, Windows ME & Windows 2000.

XP EDITION requires .Net Framework 4.0 or newer. Runs on Windows XP, Vista, Server 2003, 2003 R2, Home Server and Server 2008.

STANDARD EDITION needs .Net Framework 4.8 or 4.8.1 and runs on Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, and newer (any Windows released from 2009 until today).

• After more than 5 years leading this project, I have decided that it is time to abandon it, since I consider that there is very little that I can give it anymore, and at the same time that there is also very little that the project can contribute to me and has not already contributed to me. I have been looking for more collaborators for a long time and I have not found them, but if anyone wants to continue this project, I will be happy to make their work easier. Thanks also to you, in just over 5 years, this program has been downloaded thousands of times, by people from more than 101 countries on all continents, whom we have tried to help be more free when choosing one or more operating systems for their computers. -- Després de més de 5 anys liderant aquest projecte, he decidit que comença a ser el moment d'abandonar-lo, ja que considero que ja és molt poc el que puc donar-li de més, a la vegada que és ben poc també el que el projecte em pot aportar i no m'hagi aportat ja. Fa temps que busco més col·laboradors i no els trobo, però si algú vol continuar aquest projecte, estaré encantat de facilitar-li la feina. • Version 2.9.3 will be finished in all 5 editions this spring 2025, replacing Debian 12.9 with Debian 12.10, improving the detection of all types of hardware, and solving the bug of the STANDARD edition in all Windows HOME editions.
• Today, Monday 27th of January 2025, version 2.9.2 has been released, solving a bug in Linux edition, when used with a computer with RAM soldered, and in all 5 editions, updating Debian GNU/Linux 12.8 recommendations to the new release, Debian 12.9 Bookworm, and also updating MX Linux 23.4 recommendations to the new release, MX Linux 23.5 Libretto. This version detects the soldered RAM, in the RAM TAB of STANDARD and Linux Editions. Also, the STANDARD EDITION installation .bat script (like the Linux Edition already did) will detect the OS language and show messages in Catalan, Spanish, French or in case of other language, in English.
• Today, Sunday, 12th january 2025 version 2.9.1 has been published, in all 5 editions, updating to latest Gentoo Linux 31/12/2024, latest OpenSUSE Tumbleweed, and also latest Alt Linux 10.4 Workstation.
• Today, Tuesday 24th december 2024, version 2.9.0 has been released in all 5 editions, replacing Windows Server 2022 with Windows Server 2025, and also replacing 'old' (November/December 2024) Linux versions with the newer ones, like Univention Corporate Server 5.0-9, Yunohost Bookworm 12.0, Manjaro Linux 21.2.1 ... etc. Also detecting properly Intel CPUs with up to 6,2 Ghz, AMD CPUs with up to 192 cores and 384 threads, and also ARM CPUs with up to 192 cores (and also 192 threads).
• Today, Thursday 12th, december 2024, version 2.8.7 has been released in all 5 editions, fixing some translation bugs, replacing Oracle Linux 9.4 with Oracle Linux 9.5 and also replacing Manjaro Linux 24.1.2 with Manjaro Linux 24.2.0.
• Today, Saturday 16th, november 2024, version 2.8.6 has been released in all 5 editions, fixing a bug of hardware detection and also detecting when more than one CPU and/or more than one graphics card are in use. Also replacing Debian 12.7 with Debian GNU/Linux 12.8 and Manjaro 24.1.1 with Manjaro Linux 24.1.2.
• Today, Saturday 26th of October 2024, version 2.8.5 is released in all 5 editions, fixing a few bugs, updating Linux distros in 90's edition, adding some extra RAM speeds and also adding some extra screen resolutions.
• Today, Wednesday 16th of October 2024, version 2.8.4 is released in all 5 editions, fixing 2 bugs; one related with free RAM slots and another related with the detection of recordable optical drive.
• Today, Monday 14th, October 2024, version 2.8.3 is released in all 5 editions, replacing Manjaro Linux 24.1.0 with Manjaro Linux 24.1.1 and also detecting if there is a recordable optical drive or not (CD-RW, DVD-RW or Blu-Ray RW) in the GNU/Linux edition.
• Today, October 11th of 2024, version 2.8.2 is released in all 5 editions, adding extra info of Optical Drive(s) in the GNU/Linux edition, replacing AntiX 23.1 for AntiX 23.2, CentOS 7.9 for Springdale Linux 7.8, also upgrading to latest Gentoo Linux 2024-10-07 and upgrading info in Mageia 9, Yunohost 11.2, Alt Linux 10.2 and SliTaz Rolling.
• Version 2.8.1 is published today, monday 7th of October 2024, in all 5 editions, recommending the brand New Manjaro Linux 24.1.0 instead of Manjaro Linux 23.x.
• Today, version 2.8.0 is released in all 5 editions, including the upcoming Windows 11 release 24H2, and also replacing some Arch Linux based distros with that brand new releases (Manjaro Linux 24.0.8 and Endeavour Neo 2024-09-22).
• Today, the last day of summer 2024, version 2.7.5 is released. In all 4 editions for newer computers, replacing the recommended MX Linux 23.3 with the newly released MX Linux 23.4. Also informing in all 5 editions of the possibility of using the 90's edition with computers with 160 MB of RAM or more, manufactured from 1994 until 1998, running Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0 (Workstation or Server). Detection of DirectX and WDDM versions in the GNU/Linux edition has also been optimized, starting from the OpenGL version.
• Today, version 2.7.4 has been released, fixing a bug in the GNU/Linux edition, and also including Debian 12.7 and Manjaro 24.0.7 in the 4 editions for "newer PC's". Q4 OS Linux (Debian base) included the 90's edition. Also, 90's edition will offer more recommendations (from Windows 95 up to Windows XP) for computers builded betwen 1994 and 2003 with between 16 MB and 999 MB of RAM.
• Today, version 2.7.3 has ben released, in all 5 editions, replacing Manjaro Linux 24.0.3 with Manjaro Linux 24.0.6, and also replacing all the Fedora 40 for Manjaro 9, so there is not any Linux distro recomended that requires more than 2 GB of RAM.
• Version 2.7.2 has been published, in all 5 editions, with very important news, related with Arch Linux and replacing all *buntu flavors/distros for other Debian GNU/Linux based distros, just because Canonical is trying to receive money for updating any Ubuntu distro and other ".deb companies/communities", not.
• Today, version 2.7.1 is published. Like in the STANDARD and GNU/Linux editions, will also allow the program to be updated to the latest version, from the same program, in the XP EDITION, also correcting some text in the XP EDITION related to the version number. Except for the 90's edition, all the other 4 editions will already recommend Arch Linux 2024.08.01.
• Today, July 10th 2024, version 2.7.0 is released in all 5 editions (in 36 different languages) using the brand new Gambas 3.19.3 development language for the GNU/Linux edition, adding the possibility to upgrade/download Tria OS from the same program (Standard and Linux editions), and also upgrading recommendation of new version of Endeavour OS.
• Today, Monday, 1st of July 2024, version 2.6.7 is published in all 5 editions, upgrading to the latest Slackel 7.7.1, Debian GNU/Linux 12.6 and Arch Linux 2024.07.01.
• Version 2.6.6 is released today, monday 17th of june 2024, in all 5 editions, offering Manjaro Linux 24.0.2 instead of 24.0.1.
• Celebrating 4 years of the creation of this project, today, monday 10th of June, 2024, version 2.6.5 is published in all 5 editions, using the brand new Gambas 3.19.2, and also recommending Arch Linux 2024.06.01 and Manjaro Linux 24.0.1.

• After almost 3 weeks, today version 2.6.2 is released in all 5 editions, replacing Univention 5.0-6 with 5.0-7, Alt Linux 10.1 with 10.2 and, of course, also using the brand new Gambas 3.19.1 version for Linux instead of the 3.19.0 february version.
• Version 2.6.1 is released today, Improving the Operating System recommendations when the processor is ARM, and replacing Arch Linux 2024.02.01 with Arch Linux 2024.03.01.
• Version 2.6.0 has been published today, february 23rd of 2024, in all 5 editions, fixing a lot of bugs, updating to Gambas 3.19.0, to Visual Studio 2022 17.9.0 and replacing all Ubuntu 22.04.3 flavours with the brand new (Ubuntu) 22.04.4 LTS update.
• Today I am releasing version 2.5.8 in all 5 editions, replacing Debian 12.4 with the brand new Debian 12.5 and also fixing some bugs, improving the OS recommendations, in all 5 editions of Tria Operating System.
• This week I have published Tria Operating System 2.5.7, in all FIVE EDITIONS (improving hardware detection in old computers, and replacing Arch Linux 2024.01.01 with the fresh new Arch Linux 2024.02.01).
• Today version 2.5.6 has been released, in all 5 editions, replacing MX Linux 23.1 with MX Linux 23.2 and Manjaro Linux 23.1.2 with Manjaro Linux 23.1.3..
• Today version 2.5.5 has been released, in all 5 editions, adding Vietnamese as the 36th usable language, fixing some bugs, and detecting up to 96 cores and 192 threads in the main CPU.
• Today version 2.5.4 has been released in all 5 editions, adding Quechua as the 35th usable language, and fixing some bugs.
• Version 2.5.3 has been released in all 5 editions, only adding Esperanto as the 34th usable language, and replacing Manjaro 23.1.0 with the brand new Manjaro 23.1.2.
• Version 2.5.2 has been released in all 5 editions, including a few uncommon screen resolutions, replacing the 2023.12.01 version of Arch Linux for the brand new 2024.01.01, replacing Easy USB Creator Lite with RUFUS 2.18 in XP Edition (100% freeware and usable in 18 different languages), fixing some texts and improving relation between OpenGL and DirectX + WDDM.
• 2023 is ending and version 2.5.1 has been released for all 5 editions, replacing the old Manjaro Linux 23.0.4 with the brand new Manjaro Linux 23.1.0, replacing Univention 5.0-5 with Univention 5.0-6, detecting up to 100 TB on the main (SSD) hard drive, up to 2048 GB of RAM and up to 96 GB on the graphics cards. Also some bugs fixed (mainly in 90's edition, with a brand new and better installer ... some feedback would be appreciated) and some improvements related with OpenGL and DirectX.
• Version 2.5.0 is released today, replacing Debian GNU/Linux 12.4 instead of Debian GNU/Linux 12.2 and a lot of improvements and tests in the 90's edition, for Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.
• Version 2.4.8 has been released today, with some bugs fixed in all 5 editions, and very important DirectX changes: 90's edition will not need any DirectX and the other editions, will allow only WDDM versions compatibles with selected DirectX version. A lot of job has been done to improve especially the Brontosaurus Edition, for Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows 2000 and Windows Millennium Edition. Some feedback would be appreciated, especially If you can try this program using any Windows released BEFORE Windows XP (released in 2001).
• Version 2.4.7 is released today, 2nd of december 2023, fixing a few bugs on 90’s edition for Windows 95 and Windows NT 4, and replacing Arch Linux 2023.11.01 for Arch Linux 2023.12.01.
• Version 2.4.6 is released today, 27th of november 2023, fixing a few more bugs in translations in all editions, also fixing a bug not properly opening links when used in some Linux distros, and also adding in STANDARD and LINUX editions extra info about Type of RAM detected.

• Version 2.4.4 is released today, improving the 'Windows Key' button; it will be usable in all Windows Editions, translated to all available languages.

• All 5 editions of Tria Sistema Operatiu 2.2.5 were published last Saturday August 12, 2023, offering all new Ubuntu 22.04.3 flavours instead of 22.04.2, Mageia 9 instead of 8, Arch Linux 2023-08-01, Alt Linux 10.1 and Yunohost 11.0.9. Also Windows 7 Pro SP1 now is downloadable in more languages.
• Version 2.2.3 improves language detection on all 5 editions of TRIA S.O. and also offers (except in 90's edition, because there is not possible) the way to buy VERY CHEAP (about 25% of the standard prices) Windows licences for MODERN Windows, if the computers are capable to use this modern Windows.
• This June 2023 we celebrate THREE YEARS of this project, and Version 2.2.0 has been published. Back to 5 editions instead of 6, joining 7&8 and STANDARD editions, so now STANDARD EDITION is usable in Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2 and any newer Windows (any Windows from 2009 until 2023), also improved RAM & TPM detection, Fedora 38 instead Fedora 37 ... etc.
