DESCRIPTION
Flamebearer is a JavaScript command-line CPU trace analyzer designed for both developers and coding agents. It reads Chrome DevTools Performance recordings and Node.js .cpuprofile files. Instead of producing a visual flame graph, the current version summarizes traces as compact structured text. Reports highlight major CPU offenders, hot source lines, long tasks, and other areas worth investigating. Source maps can automatically translate minified frames back to original source locations when mapping data is available. A companion command can profile Node.js scripts directly before analyzing the resulting trace. The project was revived in 2026 with this CLI-focused performance-analysis workflow after an earlier flamegraph-oriented version.
