externum
DESCRIPTION
Externum is one language for three targets:
- readable Python-style code with real, enforced type declarations
- inline Bash for system control (`cmd` and %% bash blocks %%)
- compiles to a standalone .exbc bytecode artifact — runs without source
The compiler is written in Externum itself (minimal Python bootstrap).
- struct / enum / trait / impl (Rust-flavored), match-case, defer
- $"…" string interpolation, pipeline operator x |> f(a, b)
- compiles to Python, to real Bash (set -euo pipefail) and to the EXBC VM
- TUI IDE, REPL, browser playground, built-in DRM/licensing stack
- NEW in 4.3: externum translate — import existing Python (AST) and Rust code
400+ unit/integration/differential tests in CI.
Install: pip install externum
License: MIT.
