NAME

ec2-describe-instance-status - Describe the status for instances and see if there are any
associated events

SYNOPSIS

ec2dins ([ec2-describe-instance-status])
ec2dins [GENERAL OPTIONS] [-h] [INSTANCE [INSTANCE [...]]]

GENERAL NOTES

Any command option/parameter may be passed a value of '-' to indicate
that values for that option should be read from stdin.

DESCRIPTION

Describe the status for one or more instances.
Checks are performed on your instances to determine if they are
in running order or not. Use this command to see the result of these
instance checks so that you can take remedial action if possible.

There are two types of checks performed: INSTANCE and SYSTEM.
INSTANCE checks examine the health and reachability of the
application environment. SYSTEM checks examine the health of
the infrastructure surrounding your instance.

How Retirement Works:
---------------------
It may happen the instance host becomes unhealthy, requiring all
instances on that host to be evicted at a future point in time.
Your instance(s) will be marked as RETIRING, with the date of when
they will be forcefully evicted from the host.

Your instance will not be restarted if it is forcefully evicted from
a retiring host. Avoid eviction by manually restarting your instance
when it shows as RETIRING. This ensures your instance is started on
a healthy host.

How Events Work:
----------------
An event is a reminder of an operation that will affect this instance.
The fields NotBefore and NotAfter indicate the scheduled date that the
event comes into effect:
* NotBefore: the event will not occur before this time
* NotAfter: the event will not occur after this time
