DESCRIPTION
Here is a method to create bootable z/OS DVD, suitable for an FCP-attached SCSI DVD drive via the Hardware Management Console (HMC) or Support Element (SE). Support for an FCP-attached CD-ROM or DVD drive as a boot device exists on older IBM Z hardware; however, as of z14, SCSI boot devices are typically FC-attached disks. This bootable DVD contains stand-alone DFDSS utility (SADFDSS) as well as full volume dump (FVD) of z/OS residence volume. After IPL from DVD SADFDSS can restore FVD to DASD and then IPL from restored volume. Supplied FVD could be image of z/OS residence volume used for for disaster recovery purposes as well as self-made Customized Offering Driver (COD) used for z/OS installation.
Please unzip archive and read readme.htm
Note: I didn't check SA DFDSS FVD restore on bare machine, because I don't have access to HCD/SE, just check under Hercules/Hyperion. I kindly ask you - if you check this on bare machine please drop me a note
This is an application that can also be fetched from https://sourceforge.net/projects/zos-ipl-dvd/. It has been hosted in OnWorks in order to be run online in an easiest way from one of our free Operative Systems.
